Oxygen therapy

A medical intervention commonly used in the management of COPD, especially in advanced stages when individuals may experience low levels of oxygen in their blood. In COPD, the airways become narrowed, and the air sacs in the lungs lose their elasticity, making it challenging for individuals to breathe effectively. This can lead to decreased oxygen levels in the blood, a condition known as hypoxemia. Oxygen therapy is prescribed when the levels of oxygen in the blood fall below a certain threshold, and it becomes necessary to provide additional oxygen to maintain proper bodily functions.
